Last September 28, Theodora of Greece finally celebrated her long-awaited wedding to American lawyer Matthew Kumar.
After several postponements, the daughter of the late King Constantine II and Queen Anne Marie walked down the aisle at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens.
The ceremony aroused great expectation, especially for the wedding dress, a dazzling design by Greek couturier Celia Kritharioti.
Theodora wore the dress with a radiant smile, accompanied by her brother, Prince pavlos of Greece, who assumed the role of best man in honor of her late father.
The Spanish royal family at the wedding of Theodora of Greece
The Spanish royal family was present at the event, with Infantas Elena and Cristina, Queen Sofia, as well as young Irene Urdangarin, all shining in sophisticated attire.
Although King Felipe and Queen Letizia did not attend due to commitments at the Naval School in Marin, the representatives of the Spanish royals left their mark with their wardrobe choices.
Infanta Elena surprises with her polka-dot dress
The Infanta Elena stood out with a navy blue and white polka dot shirt dress.
The design, with three-quarter sleeves and a flowing skirt, enhanced her figure, while an elegant ballerina-style bun and a diamond choker necklace complemented the look.
For accessories, she opted for a stiff clutch to match the tone of her dress. Undoubtedly, her choice was one of the most striking and original of the event.
The refined look of the Infanta Cristina
The Infanta Cristina, for her part, chose a light blue silk dress with draping that gave her an ethereal and sophisticated air.
She combined her outfit with a shiny silver clutch that she had worn at the pre-wedding dinner, as well as elegant earrings.
Like her sister, Cristina opted for a bun updo, highlighting her understated elegance.
Queen Sofía and her vibrant choice
Queen Sofia also took the applause with a two-piece suit in vibrant fuchsia, designed by Alejandro de Miguel, a regular couturier in her wardrobe.
The jacket, with a flattering V-neck and eye-catching draping, was paired with wide silk crepe pants, which added fluidity to the ensemble.
Her choice was modern and proved that style knows no age.
Irene Urdangarin: the young woman reveals her mature style
Irene Urdangarin, the youngest daughter of Infanta Cristina, also made her mark with a dark blue velvet dress that had previously belonged to her mother.
The dress, adorned with a leaf print in shades of gray and black, was elevated by a blue chiffon shawl that gave it a Grecian feel and added pizzazz to the ensemble.
Irene kept her accessories simple, opting for a silver clutch and sparkling earrings. For her hairstyle, she chose a high ponytail that cleared her face and highlighted her youthful yet sophisticated style.
The Spanish royal family, in the spotlight
While Miguel and Juan Urdangarin, Irene’s brothers, opted for sober suits, it was the women of the royal family who caught all eyes.
At all times, the youngsters were attentive to their grandmother, Queen Sofia, helping her up the steps to the cathedral while receiving cheers from the audience.
In addition to the Spanish family, the wedding was attended by several European royals, including Christian of Hanover and Sassa of Osma, Princess Benedicta of Denmark and her relatives, as well as Philippos of Greece and Nina Flohr, among others.
