Kate Middleton assumed the title of Princess of Wales in 2022, and since then she hasn’t failed to impress royal watchers with her elegant fashion choices.
Whether attending state banquets, diplomatic receptions, or the coronation of King Charles III, she has showcased a refined, sophisticated wardrobe, relying on a few trusted designers to bring her vision to life.
Much of Kate’s stunning royal wardrobe has been crafted by two prominent designers: Sarah Burton, who led Alexander McQueen until 2023, and Jenny Packham. Their work has ensured that Kate remains the epitome of royal elegance at every event she attends.
In early 2023, Kate temporarily stepped back from public appearances after announcing that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Although she completed preventative chemotherapy later that year, she continues to recover.
During her absence, royal fans have taken to social media to reminisce about her past appearances, particularly focusing on her iconic outfits that have left a lasting impression.
Kate’s best outfits as Princess of Wales
Here are five of the most memorable looks Kate has worn since becoming Princess of Wales:
2022 – South Africa State Visit
For King Charles III’s first state visit as monarch, Kate dazzled in a white Jenny Packham gown featuring crystal-embellished shoulders and flowing split sleeves.
The princess complemented the gown with Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara, a piece famously associated with Princess Diana.
She finished the look with a pair of pearl earrings and a bracelet, paired with the blue sash of the Royal Victorian Order and the Royal Family Order from Queen Elizabeth II.
2022 – Diplomatic Reception
Later that year, Kate attended the Buckingham Palace diplomatic reception in a bold red evening gown, also designed by Jenny Packham. With its scoop neckline and long sleeves, the dress was understated yet elegant.
Kate completed the look with the “Lotus Flower” tiara and jewelry from Queen Elizabeth II’s collection.
2023 – Coronation of King Charles III
The coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla was perhaps Kate’s most regal moment to date. She donned the full robes and collar of the Royal Victorian Order, paired with an ivory silk gown designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.
The dress featured delicate silver embroidery around the neckline and hem, and Kate accessorized with Princess Diana’s diamond and pearl earrings and a stunning silver headpiece created by milliner Jess Collett.
2023 – South Korea State Visit
For the state visit of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, Kate chose another Jenny Packham design—this time a gown with a gold-embroidered capelet. She completed the ensemble with white opera gloves, a matching handbag, and the “Strathmore Rose” tiara on loan from King Charles.
The look was finished with diamond earrings once belonging to Queen Elizabeth II.
2023 – Diplomatic Reception
Kate wowed again at the 2023 diplomatic reception, where she wore a pink sequined gown by Jenny Packham.
