Special Olympics Monaco recently hosted the Princess Charlene European Swimming Meeting, a significant event held at the Centre Nautique Albert II in Monaco.
This prestigious meet gathered over 200 athletes from various European nations, with teams hailing from Germany, Cyprus, Ireland, Gibraltar, and Slovenia.
Princess Charlene, in her role as Honorary President of Special Olympics Monaco, graced the opening ceremony, highlighting her continued support for the initiative.
Special Olympics, originally founded in the United States in 1968, is dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through inclusive sports activities. Its mission expanded to Europe in 1980, with Monaco joining early on alongside Belgium and Ireland.
Since 2012, Princess Charlene has served as the Honorary President of Special Olympics Monaco, supporting the organization’s impactful mission.
