It’s no secret that Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, has mastered the art of sustainable elegance.

Princess Kate has made customizing her clothes a personal signature.

Instead of opting for new garments for every event, she has demonstrated a knack for modifying details of her outfits, giving them a completely revamped look.

Let’s take a look at some of the occasions when Kate has resorted to this trick.

Recently, during Sunday Remembrance, Kate stunned in a Catherine Walker coat that, at first glance, looked brand new.

However, keen observers noticed that this garment had already been worn in 2020 for the same event.

The key to the change? Subtle but successful details: the white buttons were replaced with black velvet ones, and a bow was added to the collar. She also removed the bangs from the shoulder pads, making the coat look completely transformed.

This was not the only recent occasion where Kate showed her ingenuity. In her first appearance after learning that she was undergoing chemotherapy, the princess attended Trooping the Colour in a white dress also signed by Catherine Walker.

This design, which she had worn months earlier at an event prior to the coronation of Charles III, was adapted with notable changes: the black trim at the waist was replaced by a thinner double one, and an elegant bow was added at the neckline.

But this clever trick is not new to Kate’s closet. In 2017, during the BAFTA awards, she wore an Alexander McQueen dress with a striking boat neckline.

Two years later, at the American Portrait Gala, the same dress reappeared, but with a notable difference: small sleeves that gave it a completely different feel.

Another outstanding example is a jewel dress, also by McQueen, which originally featured semi-transparent sleeves.

This design, which she first wore in Malaysia, was revamped with more solid sleeves when she wore it to the 2020 BAFTAs.
