Princess Sofia surprises by wearing a blue sequined dress with the Aquamarine Kokoshnik tiara.
On the verge of commemorating a decade since her wedding to Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, Princess Sofia has surprised with an unexpected choice during the traditional gala dinner that King Carl Gustaf organizes at the Royal Palace in Stockholm after the presentation of the Nobel Prizes.
This annual event, which brings together Swedish royalty at its finest, is a perfect occasion to dazzle, and Sofia did not miss the opportunity.
Princess Sofia’s style at the dinner in honor of the Nobel Laureates 2024
Instead of the bridal tiara she usually wears since her wedding, a diamond jewel she received as a gift from her in-laws, Sofia decided to break with tradition and opted for the spectacular Aquamarine Kokoshnik tiara.
This jewel, inspired by traditional Russian headdresses, stands out for its delicate design with aquamarines and diamonds, bringing a fresh air to her appearance.
To complement this change, the princess chose a blue sequined dress designed by Pär Engsheden, a piece that was not new to the family.
This dress, which originally belonged to her sister-in-law, Princess Victoria, was worn by the latter at the 2011 Nobel Prize ceremony when she was pregnant with Princess Estelle.
Princess Madeleine’s style
On the other hand, Princess Madeleine did not go unnoticed on this special evening either.
Following the example of her sister-in-law, she also opted for a jewel steeped in history: the emblematic peacock tiara.
This piece, which dates back to 1810, was rediscovered by Queen Silvia in an old closet of the Royal Palace and restored for her use.
Made of gold, silver and polished steel, the tiara is a symbol of the rich heritage of Swedish royalty.
As for her dress, Madeleine chose an Alberta Ferretti design in charcoal gray, adorned with white lace stripes, a sheer neckline and a black belt that enhanced her figure.
Interestingly, this garment also holds a link to the past, as the princess wore it for the first time at a similar gala dinner in 2015.
