The Quirinal Palace, glittering with lights and decorations, became the setting for a special evening for Queen Letizia of Spain.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended an elegant gala dinner hosted by Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and as usual, the Queen captured all eyes with her impeccable style and elegance.
Queen Letizia in a Black Max Mara Gown
Letizia chose for the occasion a stunning black dress by the renowned Italian firm Max Mara.
This design, made of pure silk georgette and shiny satin, stood out for its sophisticated silhouette, sleeveless and draped at the shoulder. Its teardrop-shaped detail at the front added a touch of distinction.
In addition to the dress, Letizia wore a pair of twin bracelets, a jewel with history. These diamond bracelets, originally from a Cartier crown that Alfonso XIII gave to Queen Victoria Eugenia, were transformed into more modern jewelry.
Since Victoria Eugenia’s death, they had only been worn by Queen Sofia, until Letizia debuted them in 2017. Since then, they have been seen on many occasions.
As for the earrings, Letizia opted for elegant teardrop-shaped designs, made of white gold and black diamonds, from the prestigious Swiss house De Grisogono.
Although she has the matching necklace, she preferred to wear only the earrings. She could not miss her Coreterno ring, one more detail in her careful selection of accessories.
Despite the exchange of decorations between hosts and guests, neither the King and Queen nor the Mattarella wore any insignia during the dinner.
Queen Letizia, following Queen Sofia’s example, opted not to wear a tiara on this occasion, a tradition she has maintained on visits to republics such as Germany and Portugal.
This year, she only wore a tiara during the state visit to the Netherlands.
