Queen Letizia Debuts a Modern Burgundy Look With a Bold Gold Necklace at the Journalism Awards

At the Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Awards, Letizia once again reminded us why her evening appearances often generate so much anticipation. I know many of you feel the same way I do: when it comes to this annual event, we always expect a different stylistic nod. And this time, we had it.

The Queen arrived at the Ritz wearing a monochrome ensemble centered around a long, straight sequined skirt by Massimo Dutti, featuring a subtle, yet elegant, burgundy sheen. She paired it with a cashmere sweater from Falconeri, a piece she had already worn at the Military Easter event and which fit perfectly.

Why did the necklace attract so much attention?

The most talked-about aspect of the look wasn’t the skirt or the accessories, but something Letizia almost never wears: a necklace. And not a discreet one. She opted for a bold, on-trend gold chain, a departure from the delicate pearls she typically wears.

This detail broke with her usual style and added a modern touch to the ensemble. She doesn’t need grand gestures to refresh her image, and this subtle, modern touch proves it. Sometimes, a single accessory can completely transform the look.

How did the stylist finish the look with coordinated accessories?

The accessories echoed the burgundy theme: low-heeled Magrit pumps and a matching handbag, both in shades that harmonize with the ensemble without overpowering the skirt.

The new earrings, also gold and double-hoop, reinforced the contemporary vibe she introduced with the necklace. Her customary Coreterno ring added that personal touch that is always present on the Queen’s right hand.
