Queen Letizia’s Style at the 2026 Book Fair: Reworn Dress and Espadrilles

The Madrid Book Fair is celebrating its 93rd anniversary, and Letizia was there to inaugurate its 85th edition in El Retiro on Friday, May 29. Over three hundred booths, humor as the central theme of this edition, and a queen who arrived with a look designed for hours of strolling and exploring the fair.

For this edition, Letizia wore a dress by Adolfo Domínguez—a pleated midi dress with a halter neckline and ribbons that crisscross at the waist—featuring a chalk-effect print in blues against a dark background. She first wore it during the summer of the pandemic, and today she confidently brought it out again. Circular fashion in its purest form—something Letizia consistently practices and that’s now woven into her style identity.

For footwear, she chose esparto wedge sandals from Sarah World, Sara Navarro’s brand that ceased operations in 2021. This means these espadrilles have been waiting their turn in the closet for quite some time. Today was that moment, and they were the perfect shoes for the occasion.

The detail that caught my eye the most was the jewelry. She chose the Vents earrings by Isabel Guarch, a Majorcan brand that both she and Queen Sofía frequently wear, especially in the Balearic Islands. These are handcrafted pieces of fine jewelry made from 18-karat yellow gold and adorned with natural diamonds, inspired by the Compass Rose.

The result, when worn as a whole, was exactly the balance I was looking for—a touch of light that didn’t compete with the dress or the fair’s relaxed atmosphere. What I like is how Letizia dresses for these kinds of outdoor cultural events. She doesn’t lower her standards, but she doesn’t overdo it either.
