The institutional agenda of 2025 kicked off with the traditional Military Parade, a solemn ceremony that, as every January 6, was presided over by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia at the Royal Palace in Madrid.
For the second consecutive year, Princess Leonor accompanied her parents in this act, wearing with impeccable demeanor the dress uniform of the Navy.
However, it was Queen Letizia who stole the show thanks to an outfit that combined classic elegance with modern touches.
Queen Letizia’s Style at the 2025 New Year’s Military Parade
The mother of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, opted for a long gala skirt in burgundy, a garment that had already premiered in 2019.
This skirt, made with side buttons and a satin opening that facilitated movement, stood out for its sophisticated design and intense color.
On that occasion she combined it with a white blouse, but this time she preferred to keep a monochromatic tone by choosing a top also in maroon.
To protect herself from the cold of the Madrid morning, where thermometers hovered around 8 degrees, the Queen wore a fur jacket with a high collar and long sleeves, which she wore slightly rolled up.
As she entered the Throne Room, where the ceremony continued, she took off her jacket, revealing the impressive necklace hidden underneath.
The necklace that Letizia wore is an emblematic piece of the Spanish Royal Household’s jewelry box.
It is the well-known “necklace with thirty-seven large pearls”, which Queen Victoria Eugenia included in the passing on lot, a set of jewels that are inherited from queen to queen.
This necklace is not a novelty in Letizia’s repertoire. She wore it for the first time at the 2016 Princess of Asturias Awards and has continued to wear it at high-profile events.
The earrings chosen for the occasion were equally special: a pair of Australian pearls that the Queen has worn on numerous occasions since the birth of Princess Leonor.
These detachable earrings allow the Queen to wear them in a versatile way, either with just the top diamond or with the complete pearls.
To complete the outfit, Letizia opted for a burgundy handbag by Magrit, one of her favorites, and matching pumps with a low, comfortable heel.
This type of footwear, which she has already worn on other occasions, seems to indicate that it will be a recurring choice of the Queen this year.
