At the beginning of May, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark officially embarked on the royal yacht Dannebrog at the Nordre Toldbod cruise port in Copenhagen to fulfill an important tradition.
This event, held each May, marks the beginning of the royal cruise season and symbolizes the continuity of the Danish Royal Family’s long-standing summer voyages.
The royal yacht, Dannebrog, serves as both an official and private residence for the royal family, accommodating them during summer cruises in Danish waters and official visits abroad.
This year, King Frederik and Queen Mary embarked on a late summer cruise from August 19-22.
Their trip took them to Sweden and Norway for state visits, as well as to the Faroe Islands and Greenland for official engagements.
It was the first time the couple had sailed as a royal couple, a notable moment in their shared royal duties.
As the royal couple arrived at Helsingør Harbour, they were greeted warmly by the town’s citizens, who gathered to witness this prestigious event.
From there, they proceeded to Fredensborg Castle, where an official ceremony took place to mark the change of their residence for the summer season, in keeping with royal tradition.
Queen Mary in Polka-Dot Dress
For the occasion, Queen Mary made a graceful appearance in a stylish navy ensemble. She wore a beautifully tailored polka-dot satin midi dress from Iris & Ink, which flowed elegantly as she walked.
Over the dress, she wore an elegant white belt that enhanced her figure.
Completing her look, Queen Mary opted for a pair of sophisticated closed-toe pumps in navy leather by Gianvito Rossi, adding a refined touch to her outfit.
For her headpiece, she chose a Maggie Mowbray ‘Helena’ headband, featuring an off-white veil and delicate feather detailing, which added a touch of regal elegance to her ensemble.
