Frederiksborg Castle was once again dressed in history and elegance with the visit of Queen Mary of Denmark, who inaugurated the exhibition Danner af Danmark, dedicated to one of the most rebellious female figures of the 19th century.
But beyond the cultural tribute, the spotlight also stopped for a moment on the Queen’s impeccable style.
Queen Mary’s style on exhibition at Frederiksborg Castle
Mary appeared in a sober outfit that was perfectly in the same tone as the exhibition: sophisticated, strong and with character.
She paired an elbow-sleeved Prada blouse with a black skirt in a structured silhouette signed by Mark Kenly Domino Tan, one of her go-to Danish houses.
The accessories did the rest. Gianvito Rossi shoes with a medium heel, Gucci glasses with feline frames and a purple leather clutch by Carlend Copenhagen gave her the air of a modern woman who doesn’t need stridency to stand out.
On her wrists, she wore bracelets by Rebekka Notkin and Dulong Fine Jewelry that added sparkle with discretion.
Beyond her styling, Queen Mary also played an active part in the show. She lent her voice to a film about the life of Countess Danner, a woman who was much more than a royal consort. She was a worker, an activist and a symbol of struggle in an era when daring was expensive.
