The evening at the Royal Palace of Laeken shone with elegance and tradition during the banquet hosted by the King and Queen of Belgium in honor of the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.
Queen Mathilde dazzled with an impeccable style where she combined a beautiful navy blue ball gown with the historic Wolfers tiara, a jewel that belonged to Queen Fabiola.
Queen Mathilde’s style at the gala banquet in honor of the Sultan of Oman
Queen Mathilde opted for a design of the prestigious Belgian fashion house Natan, known for dressing the most prominent royals.
Her choice consisted of a straight silhouette dress with a strapless neckline, enhanced by a spectacular cape covered with sequins that fell from the shoulders.
Cape dresses have become a recurring piece in the queen’s closet, and this particular model added an air of majesty to the gala dinner.
The historic jewel: the Wolfers tiara
Mathilde’s look was completed with the Wolfers tiara, a jewel loaded with historical significance.
Created by the renowned Belgian jeweler Wolfers, it was a gift from the Antwerp diamond industry to Queen Fabiola on the occasion of her wedding.
This piece, made of platinum and decorated with rows of brilliant diamonds and clusters of pear-cut diamonds, is known for its versatility, as it can also be worn as a necklace.
Since Fabiola inherited it from Queen Mathilde, this jewel has become an emblem of the Belgian royal family.
Mathilde first wore it in 2015 during a state visit to Poland, and it was recently seen on her daughter, Princess Elisabeth, who wore it to the gala dinner for the birthday of Prince Christian of Denmark in 2023.
