Queen Mathilde participated in the conference titled ‘Children’s Rights at a Crossroads: Evolving Humanitarian Crises’, which took place at the Egmont Palace in Brussels.
The gathering marked the 35th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and was jointly organized by the Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, UNICEF Belgium, and Plan International Belgium.
This significant event underscored the importance of protecting children’s rights amid increasingly complex global challenges.
During her address, Queen Mathilde highlighted the urgency of investing in solutions that ensure the well-being of children worldwide. She remarked, “The challenges to children’s rights demand targeted investments to better fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals.”
Mathilde further emphasized that addressing root causes requires moving beyond traditional approaches, adding that children and young people must play a central role in shaping solutions.
