Queen Mathilde’s Innovative Look: Green Neoprene Ensemble

The innovative look of Queen Mathilde has caught all eyes during the second day of the state visit of the King and Queen of Belgium to France.

For this occasion, where they were received by the mayor of Paris, the queen surprised by opting for an outfit in a vibrant green color, made of a rare material in royal fashion: neoprene.

Specifically, it is a design, signed by the house Natan, and that is part of the autumn-winter collection 2024/2025.

Mathilde, known for her understated elegance and affinity for classic pieces, customized the original outfit, adding details that reflected her distinctive style.

The look, composed of a jacket and a rigid skirt, stood out for its structure, but the neoprene gave it a unique movement and freshness.

Among the modifications made by the queen, the most notable were the adjustment of the sleeves, which in the runway version were long and flared. Mathilde preferred a simpler cut, with sleeves that reached to the wrist, giving it a more polished look.

Another significant alteration was the belt she added, which was absent in the original design. This choice was key to defining her figure and adding a feminine touch, similar to the style she wore the day before in Paris in a Dior ensemble.

She also modified the length of the skirt, which in Natan’s version was asymmetrical, with a longer back. The queen opted for a completely symmetrical hemline, achieving a more balanced and modern look.

To complement the vibrant green ensemble, Mathilde chose accessories in nude tones, creating an elegant contrast. From the shoes to the handbag, every detail was carefully coordinated.

The only accessory that matched the outfit was the headpiece, a headband also designed by Natan, which added a touch of sophistication.

However, what attracted the most attention were her earrings, a detail that broke with the formality of the look.

Instead of resorting to traditional pearls or diamonds, the queen opted for boho-style tendrils, made of old gold and small stones. This unexpected touch brought a relaxed and modern air, without losing the elegance that characterizes Mathilde.

The look, in its entirety, proved once again that the Queen of Belgium is not afraid to innovate in her fashion choices.
