The Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition is one of those events that the Belgian royal family takes very seriously, and this year, dedicated to the cello, was no exception.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde presided over the first session of the final in Brussels. The Queen, who is the honorary president of the foundation and a self-proclaimed music lover, arrived at the box in a look that captured everyone’s attention.

The dress was by Jenny Packham, the Electrica model in midnight blue. It featured a straight silhouette with a boat neckline and cape-style sleeves that flow from the body of the design.
What makes this dress truly special is the embroidery of rhinestones and gold and silver crystals that covers the chest and cuffs, creating a visual effect reminiscent of a short bolero integrated into the garment.

It’s pure textile craftsmanship, the kind that can only be fully appreciated in person or in close-up photos.
Mathilde has already worn this silhouette at other international galas, and it works just as well every time.
For her accessories, she chose Christian Dior from head to toe: D-Moi shoes in navy blue satin that matched the dress, and a rigid handbag from the same brand. The result was a seamless color palette, with nothing to distract from the overall look.

Her hair, gathered in a voluminous Italian bun, left her neck exposed, allowing diamond drop earrings to steal the show and complete the look with just the right amount of sparkle.
