The Royal Palace of Laeken dressed up to receive the President of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and his wife, Jane Yumiko Ittogi, at a state dinner hosted by the King and Queen of Belgium.
The evening, attended by nearly 200 guests, was the perfect finale to the first day of the Asian leader’s official visit.
Queen Mathilde in a ball gown and the Brabant tiara
For this special occasion, Queen Mathilde opted for classic elegance with a powder pink dress, a design that she had already worn in the past and that still retains its charm.
Signed by Belgian designer Pierre Gauthier, the dress stood out for its delicate embroidery of rhinestones with floral motifs, long sheer sleeves and a skirt with a slight flounce that provided movement.
The queen’s look was complemented with one of the most representative jewels of Belgian royalty: the Laurel tiara, also known as Brabant.
It is a classic style piece, crafted in platinum and diamonds, dating back to 1912 and was an engagement gift for Mathilde in 1999.

Over the years, she has worn it on numerous occasions, and has even found innovative ways to wear it, such as when she wore it as a choker at the wedding of the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.
In addition to the tiara, the queen dazzled with a pair of flower-shaped diamond earrings with delicate dangling bangs and a stunning waterfall brooch, also adorned with diamonds.
To complete her outfit, she wore the sash of Leopold III of Belgium, the country’s highest honorary distinction.
