During her state visit to France with King Philippe, Queen Mathilde of Belgium has left a very good impression of fashion sense.
Although not usually recognized as a style icon among royals, Mathilde proved that, when she wants to, she can surprise with looks that don’t go unnoticed.
One of the most memorable moments of this visit was her choice for dinner at the Georges Pompidou National Center for Art and Culture, an event organized as a token of appreciation for the French government’s hospitality.
Queen Mathilde in white strapless gown by Natan
For this special occasion, Mathilde opted for a gala dress signed by Natan, the renowned Belgian fashion house that is also a favorite of other royals such as Queen Maxima.
The ensemble consisted of a white tube dress with strapless neckline, accompanied by a vaporous silk cape embroidered with transparent stones, which brought an angelic and ethereal touch to her figure.
A curious detail is that, throughout her visit, Queen Mathilde paid tribute to France by wearing the three colors of its flag in different events.
She started with an elegant red/burgundy Dior ensemble for the welcoming ceremony, followed by a blue velvet dress for a gala dinner, and finally the white Natan dress for the dinner at the Pompidou.
Mathilde completed her look by pulling her mane back into an elaborate bun that exposed stunning diamond earrings, pieces she debuted in 2017 and whose provenance is still a mystery.
She also wore a gold bracelet on her right wrist, and her carefully selected makeup accentuated her expressive blue eyes, achieving a sophisticated and timeless look.
