This week, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has demonstrated her impeccable sense of style.
During her official engagements, she has surprised with several looks in just two days, especially highlighting a gray dress by Mohamed Benchellal, which she modified to give it a more current touch.
Queen Maxima in a gray dress by Mohamed Benchellal
On Wednesday, October 2, Maxima attended the opening of the MOḌA exhibition at the Central Museum in Utrecht, where creations by Moroccan designers who have made their mark in the Netherlands are on display.
Among the names present, the young designer Mohamed Benchellal, responsible for the gray dress worn by the queen at the 2022 Prinsjesdag, a key event on the Dutch agenda, stood out.
For the occasion, the queen decided to recover this design, but with a significant modification: she asked her seamstresses to shorten the skirt to a midi model, more suitable for an evening event.
The dress in question is characterized by an elegant neckline that simulates a shawl, gracefully wrapping the queen’s figure.
Made in a lightweight fabric, the design maintains its sophisticated essence, but the new length gives it a fresher and more modern air.
Maxima completed her look with gray suede pumps by Gianvito Rossi, a Valentino clutch adorned with studs, and a headdress she had already worn at the Prinsjesdag.
This dress connects Queen Maxima with Letizia of Spain, as the Spanish monarch has also opted for a Benchellal design in the past.
During a state visit to the Netherlands in April, Letizia chose a midnight blue dress with a side cape, designed by Benchellal, for a reception at the Straat Museum.
