On the evening of Monday, October 21, Queen Maxima and Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands attended a special event in Utrecht, joining the audience at the anniversary concert honoring the 80th birthday of Ton Koopman.
Koopman, who founded the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir, has made a significant impact in the world of Baroque music, and this concert was part of a celebratory international tour.
The evening’s performance, held at TivoliVredenburg, featured a masterful rendition of Handel’s oratorio Esther, known as the first English oratorio.
For this tour, Koopman himself prepared a new edition of the piece and led the orchestra and choir from his harpsichord, showcasing his dedication to the Baroque genre.
The solo roles were beautifully performed by soprano Julia Lezhneva, countertenor Maarten Engeltjes, and bass-baritone Andreas Wolf.
Queen Maxima in Max Mara Coat and Saloni Dress
Queen Maxima, always a figure of elegance, opted for a chic and timeless ensemble.
Maxima donned a sleek black Max Mara Poldo coat, perfectly paired with a playful Saloni Isa polka-dot ruffle dress in multi-color.
To complete her look, she chose Gianvito Rossi accessories, including her signature black satin Gianvito 105 pumps and the Bella clutch, also in black satin.
