King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands opened the doors of the Huis ten Bosch Palace for a special lunch for the Circle of Commissioners, a consultative body representing the country’s twelve provinces.
Although such meetings are not customary, the King maintains frequent contact with a representative of the group to discuss matters of national interest.
Queen Maxima’s style at the Huis ten Bosch Palace
On this occasion, Queen Maxima once again demonstrated why she is considered a style icon. She opted for an elegant dress by Natan, one of her favorites, which simulated a two-piece ensemble.
The garment combined a burgundy wool bodice with a silk plaid skirt, a design that has evolved over the years. In 2023, the monarch decided to modify it, replacing the original velvet fabric with a lighter, more sophisticated version.
To complement her outfit, Maxima wore a brooch with history.
It is a flower-shaped piece, made with rubies, diamonds and opal, commissioned by Queen Emma in the late nineteenth century to the jeweler Schürmann & Co of Frankfurt.
The jewel, made of a milky opal that was highly prized at the time and came from Australia, added a touch of distinction to her style.
The accessories followed the same chromatic line. The Queen carried a burgundy Moneypenny clutch, a bag that is also part of the Duchess of Edinburgh’s closet and that she herself had previously used at the New Year’s reception.
To complete the outfit, she opted for stilettos in the same color, a recurring choice in her style.
