Queen Maxima of the Netherlands always knows how to stand out with her style, but there are times when even her impeccable fashion sense can’t avoid unexpected situations.
This Wednesday was one of those days, when her styling had to be mixed with some unexpected accessories: lab glasses and white coat.
The reason for this curious combination has to do with her visit to the new facilities of NX Filtration, a company dedicated to producing filters based on nanomembrane technology for water purification.
During the visit, Queen Maxima went inside one of the laboratories to get a closer look at the innovative processes that take place there.
To follow the lab’s strict safety regulations, the queen was forced to cover her stylish attire with a white coat and protect her eyes with special goggles.
Although this is not the first time we see the queen in a similar situation, on this occasion the combination of her luxurious accessories with the protective gear turned out to be quite unusual.

Maxima’s original look was composed of a chiffon flower dress in soft tones and accessories in an elegant bottle green, an outfit she had already worn during her visit to New York with King William Alexander last May.
However, this time she decided to add a special touch with unique earrings, which have been on her list of favorites for a long time.
These earrings are the Gipsy model from the Danish firm Ole Lynggaard. They are made in yellow and rose gold, adorned with topaz, smoky quartz, moonstone and diamonds. Their value is around 12,000 dollars and they were a gift from Queen Mary of Denmark.
Maxima debuted them in public in 2016 and they have since become one of her most iconic pieces.
Beyond their sentimental value, the earrings also have a particularity that makes them unique: the smoky quartz change appearance depending on the light, becoming almost transparent at certain angles.
In the end, the mix of royal style and security requirements left us with one of the most unusual images of Queen Maxima, who, despite the circumstances, proved once again that her fashion sense can adapt to any situation.
