Queen Maxima attended the annual iftar held at the Grand Hotel Kurhaus in Scheveningen, The Hague, where around four hundred guests from diverse cultures and religions gathered to break their fast together.
Maxima of the Netherlands arrived after sunset, signed the guest book, and received a portrait of King Willem-Alexander as a gift, which she acknowledged with her trademark smile.

For the occasion, she chose a dark blue ensemble crafted from pieces in her own wardrobe—a practice the Anglo-Saxons call upcycling—and one that, as always, Maxima makes more interesting than anyone else.

A short blouse paired with a satin midi skirt, and the detail that elevated the whole look: a matching feather brooch that gave the ensemble a more exuberant, evening-ready, and uniquely her vibe. She didn’t need to wear anything new for the look to work.

The jewelry matched the same color palette. From the royal jewelry box, she selected earrings of white gold, diamonds, and sapphires—a central sapphire surrounded by brilliants, from which another oval-cut sapphire descends. Stones that perfectly complement the outfit’s tone, but which might appear excessive on someone with less discernment. At Maxima, they simply make sense.
