Queen Emeritus Sofia was the center of attention during a cultural evening held at the iconic Palais de l’Opéra Garnier in Paris on January 24.
The occasion marked the 150th anniversary of this temple of the arts, designed by architect Charles Garnier, whose original inauguration was attended by Queen Isabella II of Spain, the great-great-grandmother of King Juan Carlos.
Queen Sofia’s style in Paris
Sofia arrived at the event wrapped in the warmth of an elegant black cape, which was later removed to reveal a dazzling electric blue dress by designer Alejandro de Miguel.
The piece, with rhinestone detailing on the sleeves and a front sash, was praised for its impeccable style.
To complete the outfit, she wore a double pearl necklace, the same one she wore in 2013 at the presentation of the Queen Sofia Institute gold medal.
A brooch, discreet earrings and a metallic Jimmy Choo clutch added the finishing touches of refinement.
The evening included a performance by musicians, dancers and guest artists, which delighted the queen, a great lover of culture and the arts.
