Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh dedicated a day to highlight organizations that make a significant difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
On January 21, 2025, she began her visit in Alton, Hampshire, at Dogs for Autism, a charity committed to providing autism assistance dogs free of charge to autistic individuals across the United Kingdom.
This organization, the only one of its kind in the country, empowers individuals by pairing them with trained dogs that help improve their daily lives.
During her visit to the charity’s training center, the Duchess met with staff members, volunteers, and the remarkable dogs themselves.
Sophie took time to learn about the rigorous training process and the life-changing impact these animals have on the individuals they assist.
Following her time at Dogs for Autism, the Duchess proceeded to Treloar’s School and College, where she serves as the Patron of the Treloar Trust.
This specialist institution provides exceptional education, therapy, and care for young people with physical disabilities, helping them lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
During her visit, she engaged with students and staff, gaining insights into the programs and services offered by the school.
