As every year, the Swedish royal family has gathered to preside over the opening of parliament, an event that always marks an important moment in the official calendar.

On this occasion, Magdalena of Sweden surprised the public with her presence, accompanied by her husband, Chris O’Neill.

Since the couple moved with their three children to Stockholm at the beginning of the summer, Magdalena’s participation in official events has been more frequent.

Although in the past the etiquette for this engagement included black ball gowns and tiaras, since the 1950s the tradition has changed, and now Swedish royal ladies wear short dresses and a black-and-white color palette.

This year, Queen Silvia and the three princesses, Victoria, Magdalena and Sofia, have remained faithful to this tradition.

A nice coincidence between Victoria and Sofia has caught the attention of the attendees, as both chose black dresses with white print.

Victoria, heir to the throne, opted for an elegant midi design by Swedish firm & Other Stories. Her dress, with a high buttoned collar and long sleeves, featured a unique detail: instead of the original matching belt, Victoria combined it with a black maxi belt, creating a sophisticated look.

At first glance, it looked like the print was polka dots, but upon closer inspection, the white details showed geometric shapes, an interesting visual play.

She complemented her look with black Gianvito Rossi pumps, a signature Abre handbag, a tiara-like headpiece in white, pearl earrings and a diamond brooch at the neck of the dress.

Princess Sofia’s style at the opening of the Parliament

For her part, Sofia, wife of Prince Charles Philippe, wore a black dress with white polka dots by Andiata. Despite not being a maternity design, the dress highlighted her growing pregnant belly in a charming way.

Sofia’s dress also featured a removable faux fur applique on the cuffs, adding a touch of originality. She completed her look with ten-centimeter black patent leather heels and an eye-catching large flower headpiece with rhinestones.

Magdalena, on the other hand, stood out for choosing a more different look than her sisters-in-law. She opted for a black midi skirt combined with a jacket with rhinestone trim and an elegant white silk blouse with a cowl neck.

To complete her outfit, she wore white Dior pumps with the distinctive back strap with “J’Adior” written on them, priced at $950.

As accessories, she carried a small black clutch and large pearl earrings that added a sophisticated touch.

Undoubtedly, each of the princesses has been able to reflect her personal style in her wardrobe choices.
