Every September, there is an event that Queen Letizia never misses: the opening of the school year. This time, the setting was Rincón de Soto, in La Rioja, where she visited the CEIP Entresotos and the SIES Gonzalo de Berceo.
Beyond the protocol, I was struck by how warmly she greeted the neighbors waiting for her, sharing smiles and photos as if she were at a family reunion.
The interesting aspect of this event is how Letizia balances the formal tone of her role with a friendly and approachable image. She knows it’s an event with children and teachers, so she usually chooses outfits that convey elegance without being stiff.
This year, she achieved this with a simple yet effective formula, wearing a light blue striped blouse by Adolfo Domínguez and black culotte pants by Hugo Boss, the wide-leg style that both looks stylish and allows for comfortable movement.
The detail I liked the most was the shoes. The Queen repeats with her Sézane square-heeled Mary Janes, which we have already seen in various colors.
For that occasion, she chose the black patent leather model, perfect for walking comfortably while maintaining a polished look. She added earrings by Bárbara Goenaga and her Corterno ring, small pieces with a modern touch that complete the look.
I think this ensemble reflects Letizia’s intention in these events well: to connect with people without sacrificing the elegance her role demands. And although it’s not a groundbreaking style, it’s one of those that end up setting trends because it shows that comfort also matters in real fashion.
