Thursday, August 29, 2024, represents a significant milestone in the life of Princess Leonor, who has begun her training at the Escuela Naval de Marín, an important step towards her future role as Queen of Spain.
After enjoying a vacation in Greece and spending a few days in Malaga with friends, Leonor is preparing for this new challenge with enthusiasm.
Although it was anticipated that King Felipe and Queen Letizia would accompany their eldest daughter at this pivotal moment, their absence has been notable.
Why have King Felipe and Queen Letizia not been with Leonor?
The Spanish press reports that their absence is due to other commitments. King Felipe had prior engagements that took him to Barcelona, where he is participating in the ‘Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup,’ which forced him to be absent on this occasion.
This situation is somewhat surprising, especially considering that at the beginning of Leonor’s training at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza, the King, Queen, and Infanta Sofia made the trip to show their support.
For her part, it was announced that Queen Letizia had postponed her trip to Paris to support the Paralympic team, hoping to say goodbye to Leonor before her new incorporation.
However, the decision for the students to enter the school unaccompanied by their parents follows an established rule, which the princess has decided to adhere to, emphasizing that there will be no special privileges in her training.
It should be noted that Infanta Sofia was also absent at this event, as she finished her vacation on August 23 and flew to UWC Atlantic College in Wales, where she has begun her second year of studies.
With this start, Leonor not only takes a step towards her future but also sets a precedent of responsibility and commitment to her preparation as a future queen.
