The coronation of King Charles III on May 6, 2023, at London’s Westminster Abbey left many anecdotes. Social media were filled with memes and comments from users. However, one tweet, in particular, caught the attention of many, which provoked more reactions about this historic event.
Some Twitter users posted a video where they claimed that death appears at Charles’ coronation. The tweet quickly went viral, and other users chimed in with their own witty responses.
The Ghost of death at King Charles’ coronation
The video is a shot from the top of the Abbey and in the background, a figure with a black cloak and something in his hand that appears to be the “scythe” of death can be seen passing by. Something that unleashed all kinds of conjectures of superstitious people about the meaning of that shadowy figure.
However, the theory of death haunting the British king was short-lived, as it was confirmed that the figure was actually a member of the religious staff who had been slightly overshadowed by being backlit.
Despite this explanation, memes and jokes continued to flood social media, proving once again that users are on top of everything that happens.
