Gwyneth Paltrow recently addressed Meghan Markle’s growing presence in the lifestyle industry, but she carefully sidestepped offering a direct opinion.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, the Oscar-winning actress was asked about the Duchess of Sussex, who has been making headlines with her brand As Ever and her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
While Paltrow refrained from passing judgment, her words hinted at a supportive stance towards Meghan’s endeavors.
Are Gwyneth Paltrow and Meghan Markle friends?
Paltrow admitted that she had met Meghan before but clarified that she doesn’t know her personally.
“I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all,” she stated. She also added a playful remark, suggesting that she might try to “get through their security detail and bring them a pie”—a comment that, while lighthearted, subtly acknowledged the intense scrutiny surrounding Meghan and Prince Harry.
Despite not sharing a firm opinion on Meghan’s brand, Paltrow expressed her belief in uplifting other women.
She remarked that whenever a woman in the public eye faces criticism, she instinctively feels the urge to stand by her.
“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes. I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.”
The conversation also touched on Meghan’s upcoming podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, set to debut on April 8 through Lemonada Media.
While it remains unclear whether Paltrow is aware of the podcast, her reflections on supporting female entrepreneurs positioned her as a potential guest.
While Paltrow refrained from critiquing Meghan’s business moves, the Duchess of Sussex faces an uphill battle.
Her Netflix series has received mixed reviews, including criticism from both American and British media.
However, with her brand As Ever and her new podcast on the horizon, Meghan continues to push forward in the competitive world of lifestyle and entrepreneurship.
