On March 29th, a religious service was held at Westminster Abbey in honor of Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the late husband of Queen Elizabeth. The service brought together the highest representatives of the European royal houses but had some big absentees: Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle.
The couple, estranged from the royal family since they announced their resignation in 2020, did not travel to London for what would be the funeral events that could not be held in 2021 due to pandemic restrictions.
The absence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sparked hundreds of complaints from supporters of the royal family.

Why Prince Harry and Meghan did not go to the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh?
A few months ago, it was known that Prince Harry was studying the possibility of suing the British government for lack of protection for him and his family while they were in England, that would be the main reason why the son of Princess Diana has not set foot in his native country since July 2020, when he participated with his brother, Prince William, in the unveiling of a statue in honor of his mother.
At the time, Harry claimed that his security was breached and claimed that he was chased by paparazzi. Since then he has not returned to his country and has started a crusade in which it was made clear that he would not return unless his safety was guaranteed.

Richard Griffins, a former protection officer, explained that the absence of the prince and his family is related to security risks and assured that it was a “huge disappointment” not to have them at the ceremony.
“As far as I’m concerned, it’s a pathetic excuse, he should have been here to honor his grandfather,” the former officer said.
Meanwhile, through social networks also criticized the absence of the Sussex especially after it became known that they would travel for the wedding of Brooklyn, the son of David and Victoria Beckham.
