During their visit, Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, are set to explore Bogotá, Cartagena, and Cali.
Márquez elaborated, “In these vibrant locations, they will have the exceptional opportunity to engage with leaders, youth, and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress. In addition to these meaningful interactions, the Duke and Duchess will experience the rich heritage of Colombia.”
This trip is particularly significant as it comes just before the first World Ministerial Conference on the Elimination of Violence Against Children, scheduled to take place in Colombia in November.
The Archewell Foundation, established by the Duke and Duchess, focuses on promoting safer digital environments, making this conference highly relevant to their mission.
Márquez highlighted the importance of the conference, stating, “The conference will present a global framework for creating safer physical and virtual spaces, addressing issues such as cyberbullying, online exploitation, and the impact of these threats on mental health. It will offer practical solutions and commitments for countries around the world.”
During the visit, Harry and Meghan and their Archewell Foundation will participate in a series of activities related to these important issues.
Their upcoming visit to Colombia follows their official trip to Nigeria three months ago, where they emphasized mental health advocacy and promoted the Invictus Games. They were invited there by Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, the country’s highest-ranking military officer.
This will be Harry and Meghan’s first official visit to Colombia together, representing their Archewell Foundation.
While in Colombia, Meghan might showcase her Spanish-speaking skills. The Duchess learned Spanish during an internship at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
