Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning yet another major trip, which some are already labeling as a “faux royal” tour.
Fresh off their recent visits to Colombia, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly setting their sights on Lesotho and Botswana.
These regions hold a special place in Harry’s heart due to his charity work with Sentebale. A source close to the couple told Hello! magazine, “That’s his world; that’s what he’s used to.”
The last time Harry was seen in Lesotho and Botswana was in 2019.
Tour controversies
The Sussexes’ recent trip to Colombia was not without controversy, local media reported that the trip, organized by Colombia’s Vice President Francia Marquez, had a staggering security cost of $2 million, funded by Colombian taxpayers.
This provoked public outrage. Cali councilman Andres Escobar, criticized the expense as a “waste of public money on vanity” and accused Marquez of spending “our taxes on rich white people for photo opportunities.”
While some have applauded Harry and Meghan’s efforts to promote mental health awareness and empower young people, others question the unofficial nature of these visits.
The controversy over their security costs has added another layer to the criticism, especially given Prince Harry’s ongoing dispute with the UK government over his security arrangements while in Britain.
Harry and Meghan will return to the UK
In addition to their future plans abroad, rumors are swirling that Harry and Meghan may spend Christmas in the UK with their children, Archie and Lilibet.
According to Express.co.uk, they have been invited by Harry’s uncle, Charles, Earl Spencer, to celebrate the festive season at Althorp House.
If they do accept, it would be Meghan’s first substantial visit to the UK since she attended the late Queen’s funeral in 2022.
