Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to enjoy a well-deserved vacation in Portugal after participating in the Invictus 2023 Games in Germany.
After their participation in the games in the city of Düsseldorf September 16, it was believed that the couple would return to California to be reunited with their children, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2. However, they surprised everyone by taking a few days off in Portugal.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in Portugal
According to the portal Nova Gente, cited by People magazine, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took advantage of their stay in Portugal to visit Princess Eugenie, who lives in the country with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their two children, August, 2, and Ernest, 4 months.
Since settling in this European country, Eugenie and Jack have split their time between the United Kingdom and Portugal.
Despite the conflicts in the British royal family, Harry and Princess Eugenie maintain a close relationship.
In fact, she is the only member of the Windsor family to have crossed the Atlantic to visit Harry, and there are even photos of them together on various outings in the United States.
In addition, a family member revealed to People earlier this year that they remain best friends and talk constantly.
Prince Harry’s bond with Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie was on display again at the coronation of King Charles on May 6.
While Meghan remained in California with their two children, Harry entered Westminster Abbey with Beatrice, her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Eugenie and Jack.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s vacation in Portugal allowed them to enjoy a well-deserved break and strengthen their family ties with Princess Eugenie and her family.
Although their schedule is always busy, the couple finds time to cultivate their personal relationships and maintain that special bond with the few relatives with whom they do not have some sort of conflict.
More details on Meghan and Harry’s vacation
The magazine reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the town of Melides in the Alentejo region of Portugal, 80 miles south of the capital, Lisbon.
In a highly secretive operation and maintaining the discretion that has characterized them since they relinquished their royal duties in 2020, Meghan and Harry decided not to publicize this romantic getaway, either through the press or on their social media, according to the magazine.
The couple was in the country until September 20, accompanied by two bodyguards throughout. They boarded a British Airways flight from Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport to London, from where they flew to Los Angeles.
According to eyewitnesses, Meghan looked “tired” and was dressed casually.
“Meghan wore a dress with three-quarter sleeves, flat shoes and subtle makeup. Harry opted for a T-shirt in a color between green and blue, jeans and sneakers.”
