On the evening of October 9, New York once again welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with a blend of glamour and purpose.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were honored as Humanitarians of the Year at the annual gala of the Healthy Minds Project, an organization dedicated to promoting mental health and digital safety.
The couple arrived hand in hand at the event held at Spring Studios, where they were applauded for their efforts to create a safer digital environment for families and young people.
During her speech, Meghan spoke as a mother, and her message was straightforward. “Our children, Archie and Lili, are just six and four years old. Luckily, they are still too young for social media, but we know that day is coming,” she said, acknowledging the concern many parents share about the impact of technology.
The Duchess added that striking a balance between the benefits of the digital world and protecting them from its dangers is becoming nearly impossible.
Harry, for his part, emphasized, “This is a pivotal moment in our collective mission to protect children and support families in the digital age.”
The award recognizes the work of his foundation, Archewell, and particularly the creation of The Parents’ Network, an initiative that provides support to families affected by the harms of social media use.
In a statement before the gala, both described this collaboration as one of the most significant works of their lives.
The authenticity of their message—speaking as parents who take action—was undoubtedly what resonated most with the audience.
