In 2023 Princess Leonor, heir to the Spanish throne, will come of age. To celebrate her 18th birthday, a collector’s coin minted by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda will be put into circulation on October 31.
It is a limited piece that will surely be highly coveted among collectors.
What will Princess Leonor’s coin look like?
The commemorative coin will have a face value of 40 euros and only one million units will be minted.
- It will be composed mainly of 925 thousandths silver and a copper complement.
- It will weigh 18 grams and have a diameter of 33 millimeters.
- On the obverse will appear the effigy of Princess Leonor together with the legend “Felipe VI King of Spain” and the year 2023.
- Underneath it will read “Princess Leonor” and around it, in a circular sense, “18th-anniversary H.R.H. the Princess of Asturias”.
- It will also be surrounded by a pearl graphite.
- The reverse will show the value of 40 euros next to the circle with the schematic Victory Cross and the mint mark.
When will the Princess Leonor coin circulate?
The coin will be put on sale during the last quarter of the year, according to an order published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
It will be available at the Bank of Spain, credit institutions, the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda, as well as other authorized public and private entities.
The minting of this commemorative coin coincides with an important milestone in Princess Leonor’s life, her coming of age.
On October 31, the same day she turns 18, she will be sworn in to the Spanish Constitution, assuming new responsibilities as heir to the throne.
