Since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine began, users of social networks began to speculate about the age of Queen Elizabeth II, who is the longest-reigning monarch in the history of England, and also to wonder how many World Wars the Queen has lived through.
Many believe that if the Ukraine-Russia conflict is joined by more nations, the 95 year old queen will witness her Third World War, but this is not the case. Although she is approaching a century of age, the Queen has only lived through one World War.
How many World Wars has Queen Elizabeth II lived through?
Elizabeth II has only witnessed one large-scale war as the First World War began on July 28, 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918, when she was not born. Eight years after the Great War, Queen Elizabeth was born on April 21, 1926.
The Second World War began on September 1, 1939; the Queen was 13 years old when the conflict began. At the height of her youth, the monarch, in the midst of the war, entered the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service as a second lieutenant and became the first member of the royal family to enlist in the armed forces full time.
