As it does every start of the year, the website specializing in royal fashion, ‘UFO NO MORE’, has presented its annual report on the wardrobe spending of royal women during 2024.
This detailed analysis reveals not only who were the royals who premiered more clothes, but also how much money they spent on their closets.
How much did Queen Letiza spend on fashion in 2024?
Among the most striking data, highlights the case of Queen Letizia, who was crowned as the royal with more premieres of 2024, accumulating a total of 196 new pieces, surpassing the figure of the previous year.
However, despite topping the list of premieres, she ranked among those who spent the least, with an annual outlay of 56,093 euros, which placed her 13th out of 19.
This contrast is explained by her predilection for more accessible garments, which she combines with high-end designs.
Letizia, who is known for her elegant and versatile style, has managed to balance luxury brands such as Carolina Herrera, Armani and Dries Van Noten with more affordable ones such as Mango, Zara, Maje and Adolfo Domínguez.
Of the 196 garments premiered, 144 were included in the spending calculation, resulting in an average price of 384.20 euros per item.
The royals who spent the most in 2024
For the third consecutive year, Princess Charlene of Monaco ranked as the royal who spent the most money on her wardrobe, with a total expenditure of 354,588 euros.
She is followed in the ranking:
2. Marie-Olympia of Greece, with 181,147 euros, despite not having an official agenda.
3. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, with 175,426 euros.
4. Duchess of Edinburgh, who spent 163,664 euros on her closet.
5. Zara Tindall, with an expenditure of 127,984 euros.
In 6th place on the list is Meghan Markle (122,654 euros), followed by Princess Sophia of Sweden (122,452 euros) and in 12th place is Queen Maxima of the Netherlands (59,762 euros).
A surprising fact is the position of Kate Middleton, who in previous years occupied the first places in spending.
This time, however, she ranked second to last, with 12,977 euros, due to her reduced public activity during the year, because of the health problems she has faced.
Clarifications of the report
From ‘UFO NO MORE’ they wanted to stress that their figures are based on the “nominal value” of the garments, that is, the price it would be to buy them in a store.
They explained that, although they cannot confirm whether the royals paid these exact amounts, they decided to maintain an objective criterion by calculating only the retail price, without taking into account possible discounts or gifts received by the royals.
