Just a few days ago the royal house of the Bourbons announced that the future queen would enter the Military Academy and follow in her father’s footsteps as part of her training to become queen of Spain.
Princess Leonor, 17, will return home next May after finishing her studies at UWC Atlantic College in Wales and will begin her military training in September. One detail that has been revealed concerns the income she will receive for her military work.
How much will Princess Leonor’s salary be and what will happen to it?
According to tradition, the students of the Military Academy receive a financial remuneration corresponding to 60% of the established salary, which translates into a total of 417 euros per month, about 447 US dollars approximately, explains the EFE agency.
This income will increase as Leonor and her companions reach new hierarchies. The maximum figure is set at 668 euros, approximately US$712, including extra payments.
However, the Royal House reported that the princess will waive that remuneration. They consider that Leonor will not have to assume any amount of money because she is not going to practice in the future as a military officer, this is exclusively part of her training as heir to the throne.
Leonor will spend the next three years in the Land, Sea, and Air Armies, just as her father did. In addition to receiving classes, she will participate in maneuvers and perform the tasks assigned to her while living with her peers.
How much does Princess Leonor of Spain earn?
A few years ago it transcended that both Leonor and her sister Infanta Sofia received an amount of money that was enough for outings with friends and other expenses. In 2019 it was published that young women were paid 30 euros ($32) a week, a figure that may have increased as they have grown older.
