The divorce between the Infanta Cristina, 57, of Spain and Iñaki Urdangarin, 55, will soon be a fact. The couple was married for 24 years and ended their relationship when, in January 2022, the Iñaki infidelity with Ainhoa Armentia, 44, was discovered.
Since then the ex-Duke and Duchess of Palma have been in talks to reach a divorce agreement to be signed next April.
Divorce of the Infanta Cristina and Iñaki Urdangarin
One of the points has to do with the silence of the former handball player. According to Pilar Ayre, an expert on Spanish royalty, the Infanta will pay a juicy amount of money in exchange for the silence of Iñaki, who must not reveal absolutely anything about their relationship.
In the publication of the magazine Lecturas, Ayre assures that it was the emeritus King Juan Carlos I who advised his daughter to keep Urdangarin in silence.
One of the recommendations that the emeritus has given to Infanta Cristina has been:
“pay him, do it for your children, not to go now with the story of the tear, but also so that he is calm, so he doesn’t become a Prince Harry and starts writing his memoirs,” the author said.
During 24 years of marriage is much that Urdangarin can get to tell of the royal family so the Infanta has not hesitated to offer him a pension in exchange for his silence. There is some fear that Iñaki Urdangarin may speak publicly about uncomfortable topics and Cristina is trying to tie him up so that this does not happen.
