An unexpected role was assumed by the Infanta Sofia at the 80th birthday of her great-aunt Irene of Greece. The sister of Queen Emeritus Sofia celebrated her birthday at a party in La Zarzuela.
The teenager, who recently turned 15, accompanied her parents to a wing of the Zarzuela Palace where Irene of Greece and the King’s mother have their residence.

The celebration was attended by no more than 30 people, including an Orthodox priest of the Greek Church, Spanish friends and other relatives.
In the hall, the guests were greeted by two balloons of an 8 and a 0 that revealed the age of the guest.
King Felipe, Queen Letizia and the Infanta Sofia attended the meeting, as the young woman is very fond of her great aunt, so much so that she did not mind being a waitress.
According to the portal Informalia, the Infanta Sofia helped the waiters and distributed trays with canapés among the guests at one point of the party, but it was not for long because she and her mother left the celebration after a while, since Sofia had another party at a friend’s house.
Some guests were delighted with Princess Leonor‘s sister as she received many compliments such as:
“she is towering”, she has “a lot of style” and that besides “nice” she is “very close”.
