Infanta Sofia, 17, studies at the prestigious UWC Atlantic College in Wales, a boarding school known for both its academic excellence and its privacy.
Although the school maintains a strong secrecy about the daily life of its students, details of the activities of the youngest daughter of the King and Queen of Spain are occasionally leaked.
Infanta Sofia’s Plans in Wales
This weekend, the youngest daughter of the kings of Spain, opted for a quieter plan at boarding school.
According to the social media profile @Leonorysofiaaltezasreales, every weekend the institution organizes leisure activities for those students who choose to stay on campus.
On this occasion, a lively themed party entitled Live Sosh was held on Friday, full of live music and DJs. However, it seems that this type of atmosphere was not to the liking of the Infanta, who preferred a quieter alternative.
Sofia and her friends chose a space known as Hideout, described as a place to enjoy “relaxed music, snacks and board games”.
This option offered a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere, ideal for those who prefer plans away from the hustle and bustle.
In addition to social activities, the boarding school promotes academic and extracurricular initiatives that emphasize a focus on global issues.
This Monday, Sofia and her classmates participated in the Oceancon, a conference organized by the students themselves to address the needs of the ocean.
Such events highlight UWC’s connection to the maritime environment, as the school is located near the coast and organizes numerous water-related activities.
Sofia will miss a family tradition
The academic calendar also marks important milestones for students.
On December 11, the Infanta will finish her second term of studies and will return to Spain to enjoy the Christmas vacations with her family.
Although she will have three weeks to rest, she will return to Wales on January 6, which means that, for the second consecutive year, she will not be able to be present at Three Kings Day, a family tradition that includes the celebration of Military Easter and a private gathering at the home of her grandfather, Jesús Ortiz.
These holidays will also be marked by the farewell of Princess Leonor, who on January 11 will embark on the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano.
This voyage, which will take her to America, will put an end to her military training in the Army of the Sea and will be a significant chapter in her preparation as heir to the throne.
