The Infanta Sofia is preparing to live away from her family for the first time in her life. The daughter of the King and Queen of Spain will travel to Great Britain on August 29, 2023 and will begin her studies at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales on September 5. However, before starting a new adventure she has several events that will mark a before and after for her.
The Infanta Sofia, 15, has decided to follow in the footsteps of her sister, Princess Leonor, 17, and complete her academic preparation in another country.
Infanta Sofia’s Confirmation
One of the events she has pending in Spain is related to her confirmation. The Santa María de los Rosales school would have agreed to bring forward the Confirmation of the students of the course in which Sofia is so that she can receive this sacrament before leaving for Wales, publishes the portal Vanitatis.
It will be a simple ceremony, as was that of Leonor two years ago, in 2021 and it is possible that she will choose King Felipe as confirmation godfather.
This year, with the coronavirus already under control, it is unknown if more family members will be able to attend the church. If so, the maternal grandparents, Jesús Ortiz and Paloma Rocasolano, as well as Queen Sofía, will surely be present.
End of her school years
The Infanta will put an end to her studies of Compulsory Secondary Education with good grades and successfully. With this, she will put an end to a lifetime at the Santa María de los Rosales school and it is likely that a graduation ceremony will be held to bring this stage to a close.
Infanta Sofia’s birthday
Another of the special dates that Sofia will live before moving will be her birthday. On April 29, 2023, the youngest daughter of the King and Queen will be 16 years old. It is possible that she will celebrate this date in a big way considering that her next birthdays will be spent far away from her family.
Return of Princess Leonor to Spain
The Infanta is eagerly awaiting the return of her sister, Princess Leonor. It should be noted that both are very close and the Spanish heiress will finish her studies in Wales in May, this will allow them to share a few months before Sofia is the one who leaves Spain.
