As reported by the Spanish portal Vanitatis, Queen Sofia has managed to fulfill her wish to gather the entire Royal Family, including her three children and eight grandchildren, in Mallorca this summer.
Queen Sofia will be in the Balearic capital on July 15 to prepare for her arrival, and it is planned that they will all meet during the first week of August, coinciding with the regattas of the Copa del Rey de Vela, at the Marivent Palace.
Infanta Sofia and Princess Leonor reunite with their cousins
Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia will meet with Victoria Federica and Felipe Juan Froilan de Marichalar, and with Juan, Pablo, Miguel, and Irene Urdangarin.
It has been five years since there was a reunion between the whole family and now it is possible thanks to the tremendous efforts of Queen Sofia.
The only uncertainty for the reunion is whether King Juan Carlos I will attend due to his intentions to participate in the Sanxenxo regattas and his return depends on several factors, including the outcome of the July 23rd elections.
It is clear that Queen Sofia is delighted to reunite the whole family, as she has already begun preparations.
According to sources close to the Royal House, the Bourbon, Marichalar, and Urdangarin families will spend vacations together after many years.
All members of the family have made an effort to accommodate Queen Sofia’s request to meet in Marivent, and even Froilán, who currently lives in Abu Dhabi, has planned his vacation around the family reunion.
The cousins and siblings have not had a family reunion in years, with the exception of the funeral of Constantine of Greece, where Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia were not present.
There is no doubt that Queen Sofia has gone out of her way to foster a close relationship between her grandchildren. Apparently, the King and Queen’s daughters have formed a strong bond with their cousins and often spend time together.
Queen Sofia and King Juan Carlos are said to be an important influence on their grandchildren, with their words and actions having a profound impact on the youngsters’ lives.
The last time the whole family was seen together in public was in 2018 at Doña Sofía’s 80th birthday celebration, except for Iñaki Urdangarin who was in prison at the time.
The last time a photo of the whole family together was taken was in 2010, before the Nóos scandal that affected the former Duke and Duchess of Palma and caused their departure from the royal family’s schedule.
Apparently, personal differences have been ironed out in recent months and that is why the family intends to meet again during their next vacation in Mallorca.
However, so far it is not known if there will be a photo of the whole family at the intimate family reunion.
