Paris, the city of light, is ready to welcome the 2024 Olympic Games. The Eiffel Tower shines with its lights, and the Seine has been prepared for the opening ceremony, which King Felipe has described as “very original”, will be this Friday, July 26, but on Thursday several important events have already taken place.
Before the dinner, which Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, hosted a dinner for the leaders at the iconic Louvre Museum, the King and Queen of Spain met with part of the Spanish team at the embassy, expressing their support.
Sofia and Leonor Attends Paris Olympics
Felipe VI, after words from Victor Redondo, Spanish ambassador to France, and Alejandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, took the floor.
During his speech, the King improvised to encourage the athletes and announced that the royal family will be in Paris in the coming weeks, taking turns attending almost all the competitions.
“We are going to distribute ourselves among members of the family, the Queen and I, the infa…,” he said, before correcting himself to include his daughters: “…the Infanta, the Princess and Queen Sofia. We won’t be at all of them, but we will be at most of them.”
The King also mentioned the recent defeat of the women’s handball team against Brazil, highlighting their good performance and encouraging them to keep going in the tournament.
He thanked Pilar Alegría, Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, for her presence and greeted all those present, who were delighted to have their picture taken with the King and Queen.
Queen Letizia even took a photo with the team from Radio Televisión Española, where she previously worked.
As for fashion, Letizia paid tribute to France by wearing an elegant outfit by Dior, a brand she had not trusted before.
She wore a dress from the Dior Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2024 collection, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri.
The outfit consisted of a black velvet top with beading and a halter neckline, combined with a silk A-line skirt adorned with paillettes and crystals.
She completed her look with accessories also from Dior, including Adiorable sandals, with a comfortable four-centimeter heel, and a black bag called My Dior.
