The stopover of the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano in Gijón brought with it a much-anticipated moment: the reunion between Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía.
The heir to the throne, who is continuing her naval training, was visited by her younger sister. Both participated in an official reception aboard the ship, where they greeted local authorities, including the mayor of Gijón, Carmen Moriyón.
After the ceremony, Leonor and Sofía were seen in a more relaxed setting outside of protocol. Together with their Navy colleagues, they shared a meal at the La Casona de Jovellanos restaurant, in the heart of the city’s historic center.
The establishment celebrated their visit as an “unforgettable” encounter, thanking social media for being able to welcome the king and queen’s daughters with the best of its cuisine and hospitality.
The image of the two posing with the owner of the restaurant was shared with pride.
This reunion comes just after Leonor completed a demanding training period aboard the frigate Blas de Lezo, marked by military maneuvers and drills.
