The Infanta Sofia has returned to the classrooms of the UWC Atlantic College in Wales after a few weeks of autumn vacations in Spain.
The youngest daughter of the King and Queen of Spain has had a few extra days off compared to her boarding school classmates, but has already resumed her studies at St. Donat’s Castle. After having enjoyed two weeks in Spain.
Infanta Sofia returns to Wales
Her arrival took place on October 21, when an Air Force plane took off from the Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base to Cardiff, the capital of Wales, aboard which the Infanta traveled on a special flight.
Normally, UWC Atlantic students use Heathrow Airport in London for their international travel, given the wide availability of flights.
However, Sofia was able to fly from Cardiff Airport, located less than an hour’s drive from St. Donat’s Castle. On her return to Madrid, she landed in Torrejón de Ardoz, where a car took her home in just half an hour, reuniting her with her family.
Officially, UWC Atlantic College’s fall break began on October 25, but, as her older sister Leonor did, Sofia traveled to Spain before that date to attend the Princess of Asturias Awards.
During these days off, the Infanta combined moments of rest with official engagements in the Principality of Asturias.
When will the Infanta Sofia return to Spain?
According to the school calendar, the infanta will not return to Madrid until December, more precisely on Wednesday 11, and Casa Real is already organizing what will be her first official act alone.
It was last April when the Zarzuela Palace announced that Sofia would be the godmother of the contest ‘Objetivo Patrimonio. Infanta Sofia Photography Contest’.
This initiative, created on the occasion of the Day of Monuments and Sites, closed its registration period at the end of September, and the jury has already selected the winners during the month of October.
However, the awards ceremony will not take place until December, coinciding with the Infanta’s vacations, when she is expected to preside over the event, being her first public appearance without the company of her parents or her sister.
This act will mark an important step in her public life, indicating the supporting role she will play in the future for her sister Leonor, who is set to reign one day.
The specific date of this ceremony has not yet been confirmed, but there will undoubtedly be great anticipation to see how the young lady handles her first official solo event.
