Although everything related to the Royal Household is usually carefully planned, this Wednesday, June 19th, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Felipe VI’s proclamation, his daughters, Leonor, 18, and Sofia, 17, decided to surprise their father in a very special way.
The young women, with a gesture full of affection and spontaneity, moved the monarch with unexpected words.
Infanta Sofia and Princess Leonor Break Protocol
Shortly before the lunch began, Leonor and Sofía stood up from their seats and walked to the center of the room.
United and visibly nervous, they looked at their parents before speaking.
“Mom, Dad, sorry for interrupting, but we also have something to say today,” began the Princess of Asturias, reading from her mobile phone.
“Thank you for being with us and reminding us that over these ten years, we have learned from you the commitment the four of us have to the Spanish people,” continued Infanta Sofia.
Their words highlighted the strong family bond. “We would like you to join us in a toast to our mother and our father, to our Kings, because since we were born, they have taught us the value of the Crown and its purpose to serve everyone,” added Leonor. “Mom, Dad, thank you,” concluded Sofía, prompting applause from those present.
Although the speech was addressed to both Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, a gesture from the Queen revealed she was aware of the surprise.
The anniversary was memorable not only for the emotional speech but also for the outfits of Leonor and Sofía. Both opted for completely different looks, appropriate for their age and the special occasion.
Infanta Sofia’s Style
The youngest daughter of the kings chose a sleeveless navy blue jumpsuit, a design by Cardié that she had previously worn at the 2023 Princess of Asturias Awards.
This jumpsuit stood out with its waist cut-out, tie-dye print on the neckline, and well-defined shoulders, details that enhanced her figure.
To complete her look, she opted for black pointed-toe ballet flats.
Meanwhile, Leonor debuted a vibrant red suit by Roberto Verino, consisting of an oversized blazer and straight pants, which she paired with nude heels and a matching top. Following her mother’s minimalist style, Leonor wore simple diamond and ruby earrings from the Queen’s jewelry box and a delicate gold ring.
