Infanta Sofia is about to conclude her time at UWC Atlantic College in Wales, and has decided to share her experience at this prestigious boarding school, known for its focus on global education and social engagement.
According to Monarquia Confidecial, she made these revelations in an informal chat with her classmates, revealing what has been for her a journey of personal growth and learning.
Infanta Sofia’s experience at the UWC
In her words, Sofia confessed that her time at UWC has been “transformative,” from the academic to the personal.
She explained how living with young people from more than 80 countries has allowed her to see the world with different eyes.
“I have learned both inside and outside the classroom,” said the youngest daughter of the King and Queen of Spain.
The Infanta highlighted how enriching it has been to be surrounded by realities so different from her own, which has made her more aware of global diversity.
About to turn 18, Sofia feels different. More independent and with a much broader vision of the world around her.
The youngest daughter of the King and Queen of Spain, she has been an active part of several social initiatives, carrying out solidarity projects and outdoor activities, something that is key to UWC’s educational model.
Participating in these projects has given her a better understanding of the needs of local communities while reinforcing her commitment to social justice.
What stands out most in her reflections is how, looking back, she feels she has grown tremendously in all aspects.
“Wales has given me tools that I will carry with me throughout my life,” she said, perfectly summing up what this time at boarding school has meant.
Despite her discretion about her future plans, it is known that Sofia is inclined to study law and economics, ruling out a military career, something that had been considered before.
Infanta Sofia will turn 18 on April 29, and will celebrate this great event in Wales with her classmates.
