Scott Moore, the newly appointed CEO of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, recently shared insights into how he was advised to address Meghan Markle ahead of their first meeting earlier this year.

As the couple prepared for their trip to Canada in February, Moore wanted to ensure he adhered to the correct protocol.

He explained, “I did make sure to ask how I should be addressing them when they get here.” The guidance he received was notably different from the usual royal etiquette typically applied to former senior members of the royal family.

According to Moore, he was told that addressing Meghan as “Ma’am” was perfectly acceptable, while Prince Harry could be referred to as “Sir.”

This informal approach contrasts with the standard practice for addressing male royals, who are usually greeted with “Your Royal Highness” followed by “Sir.” Female royals are similarly addressed as “Your Royal Highness” before transitioning to “Ma’am.”

However, since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to the United States, the Sussexes have lost their HRH titles, meaning they can no longer be addressed in the traditional manner.

Despite this, they retain their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Interestingly, this choice of address for the couple marks a departure from Harry’s earlier stance. In 2020, during a tourism conference in Edinburgh, he encouraged informality, stating, “We are all just to call him Harry,” as recounted by event host Ayesha Hazarika.
