Everything seems to indicate that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be facing a new obstacle in their life away from the British royal family.
Recent news has reported on the current status of the Archewell Foundation, which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex set up after they retire from their roles in the British royal family in 2020.
Although the couple have pledged to work with the charity, concerns have recently surfaced that the foundation may be on the verge of collapse due to a significant loss of donations.
What’s going on with the Archewell Foundation?
The foundation’s annual impact report has revealed that Archewell has suffered a significant drop in donations over the past year, with losses in excess of half a million pounds (equivalent of US$1,263,150).
Currently, Harry and Meghan’s charity is in a complex situation because there were only two donors who gave less than £800,000 each (less than one million dollars), while costs exceeded those figures, reports the Daily Mail.
In addition, Archewell has recorded a loss of more than $600,000 which is worrying for the couple at a time when they are constantly being questioned.
However, this does not mean that the charity is really in crisis. From a fiscal point of view, the Foundation’s official position is that it is more responsible not to continue raising large sums of money while still having millions in reserve.
Although the official position is one of calm, the British media have given a lot of weight to the figures and have reported on Archewell’s situation, pointing out that the Foundation could be in the red.
In addition, the increase in salary of the director of the foundation, James Holt, has caused controversy.
On the other hand, the couple has also been ridiculed on television programs and harshly criticized in the press.
On top of that, they lost their partnership with Spotify and were back in the spotlight over Omid Scobie’s new book.
All of this has made this a very complicated year for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
